Do they really think people are that gullible?

Hulu is great. I don’t own a TV, so I watch shows and movies on my computer. Furthermore, if it wasn’t for the (relatively) recent advent of the major networks posting streaming full episodes (1, 2, 3) I’d be forced to download shows from my favorite torrent site. It’s still all ad supported, but online there’s only an occasional 30 to 60 seconds of interruption for commercials. It’s great compared to the average of 8 minutes of commercials during a “30″ minute show on broadcast television. Now on the the point of bringing up all this. I was watching family guy on hulu and for each of the 3 30 second commercial breaks I was greeted with the following screen:

Somehow either my adsense or a setting firefox is blocking their advertising. Not that this really matters, since I would normally just switch windows and turn down the volume when a commercial comes on. Still, I am bewildered by the last line above. Where they ask the viewer: “If you see this message repeatedly, you may need to disable your ad blocking software.” Really?!? Who in their right mind would willingly go out of their way to subject themselves to advertising? This is just another example of how advertising on the internet is still quite in it’s infancy.
